Dr. Chris McNeil: Chiropractic Auto Accident Injury Specialist In Macomb/Shelby/Clinton Township

Spinal conditions due to auto accident injuries are not only a "pain in the neck" they can interfere with your life. At McNeil Chiropractic we strive to help you regain your health and independence after an auto accident.

Hundreds of Americans are injured in auto accidents every day. Many of those people do not know where to turn after an auto accident and do not understand their rights after being injured in an auto accident. At McNeil Chiropractic we know that it can take up to several weeks to feel the full effects of an auto accident injury. We are here to help auto accident victims understand their rights and guide them on the right path to recovery. First, you must understand your rights after you have been injured in an auto accident. Since Michigan is a "no-fault" insurance state, you must look at your own auto insurance carrier and the other driver's auto insurance carrier as a source of recovery. Your auto insurance carrier is responsible for repairing your vehicle, paying for any lost wages, paying your medical bills, medical mileage, attendant care, and paying for help around the house if necessary. It is important to understand that your own auto insurance company is obligated to pay all reasonable and necessary medical bills and expenses associated with the injuries you suffered in your auto accident for the rest of your life. If you have a coordinated policy your primary health insurance carrier may be billed first and then your auto insurance carrier will pick up any unpaid balance. Also, if you are referred to a neurologist, orthopedic surgeon, neurosurgeon, or other doctor for a second opinion, treatment, or testing the auto insurance carrier will be required to pay those additional medical bills. You should never have to pay a medical bill out of your own pocket as long as the treatment was medically necessary and related to injuries sustained in your auto accident. The most important point to understand is that you will need to see a chiropractor after an auto accident. Though you may have been to the hospital and a medical doctor you still need to see a chiropractor. Why? Because you need a doctor that focuses on the treatment and diagnosis of auto accident injuries. Usually, hospitals will check vital signs, make sure there are no life-threatening conditions and release the patient with a prescription for addictive pain-relief medication. They do not treat the underlying improper musculoskeletal bio-mechanics that can and often do lead to future pain. Dr. McNeil specializes in treating and correcting the many symptoms associated with auto accident injuries such as: neck pain, headaches, back pain, numbness in arms & legs, sciatica, disc bulge, hip pain, shoulder pain, dizziness, anxiety/tension, and many more.
At McNeil Chiropractic we specialize in auto accident injury. Our comprehensive rehabilitation services focus on structural correction of the spine and posture, not just pain relief. In addition to chiropractic spinal adjustments we also provide other therapies like heat, ice, traction, massage, neuro-muscular therapy and postural exercises. Once a spinal injury due to an auto accident is corrected, or is as near normal as possible, we will help you to maintain the correction in order to prevent the condition or injury from returning. Dr. McNeil and his staff understands the pain, difficulty, and discomfort that an auto accident causes, which is why we treat each patient like a member of our own family, offering an exceptional level of comfort. Dr. McNeil utilizes a natural and gentle method in order to work one-on-one with children, adults, and seniors to assist in the restoration and maintenance of health after an auto accident. Macomb Chiropractor Specializes in Whiplash & Auto Accident Injury

Whiplash injury occurs from sporting event collisions, slip & fall accidents, and most commonly from auto accidents. Dr. McNeil specializes in auto accident injuries and has had great success with whiplash injury!
Have you been in an auto accident recently? If so, then you may be the victim of a whiplash injury. Whiplash injury is caused by a sudden exaggerated thrust of the head backward, forward, or sideways. Abnormal forces are applied to muscles, ligaments, nerves, bones, discs, blood vessels, and eyes as the head moves beyond its normal physiological limits. This type of injury may be caused by collisions during sporting events, slip & falls, or auto accidents. Though there are usually no visible signs of injury such as bruises or abrasions from a whiplash injury, most victims report classic symptoms. Whiplash symptoms include neck pain, headaches, back pain, arm & shoulder pain, tingling and numbness, ringing in the ears, vision problems, and dizziness. Whiplash is medically referred to as Cervical Acceleration Deceleration Injury or CAD, resulting from a hyperflexion or hyperextension of the neck. Hyperflexion is when the head is propelled forward and downward causing disc damage resulting in disc bulges or ruptures, which causes irritation of spinal nerves. Hyperextension is when the head is forced backward resulting in torn ligaments, fractured vertebrae, compressed discs, nerve damage, and pinched arteries, which can reduce blood flow to the brain. Muscle injury also may occur in a whiplash injury, which may cause minor strains and sprains or more severe tears. When tears occur in ligaments or other soft tissue that surrounds the vertebrae or bones in the neck, the vertebrae may slip out of normal alignment resulting in numerous problems including spinal cord injury.
Whiplash injuries are most commonly caused by auto accidents and Dr. McNeil, director of McNeil Chiropractic, specializes in auto accident injuries including whiplash. Did you know that a car impacted by another car traveling 10 mph can cause a whiplash injury? Also, whiplash symptoms may not occur right after an accident. Many symptoms do not show up until days or even weeks later. It is very important to get checked out by a doctor as soon as possible after an auto accident. Though you may feel fine now, the longer you wait the worse the problem gets. If caught early & treated with chiropractic care, inflammation can be reduced, scar tissue can be minimized, the use of addictive pain medication can be avoided, and submitting to surgery will not be necessary. Receiving chiropractic care from McNeil Chiropractic after an auto accident is your best hope for correcting a whiplash injury. Dr. McNeil uses specific chiropractic postural adjustments along with postural traction and postural exercises to help normalize spinal function and correct any damage that may have occurred as a result of a whiplash injury. Medical doctors often prescribe whiplash victims to wear a cervical collar, more commonly known as a neck brace, after an auto accident which can further weaken the supportive muscles in the neck and actually lengthen recovery time. Dr. McNeil has had great success with whiplash injuries and many other symptoms that occur after an auto accident.
